History of Cafe Redpath
Cafe Redpath is located in the Redpath Condominiums on the corner of St-Patrick and Montmorency in the Montreal neighbourhood of St. Henri. The site used to be the Redpath Sugar Refinery, founded on the banks of the Lachine Canal in 1854 by industrialist John Redpath. It was once Canada’s largest industrial plant; the original faded Redpath logo can still be seen on its red brick facade. After Redpath Sugar closed the factory in 1980, the building was badly neglected until 2002 when it was developed into luxury condominiums and small businesses.
The cafe was taken over by Chef Lynn Rainville and business partner Denis Timotheatos in August of 2010. With lots of TLC they transformed Café Redpath into a warm and inviting café bistro. The sunny terrace overlooking the Redpath marina is the perfect spot to sample one of the Gold Medal winning beers from Quebec’s own Dieu du Ciel micro brewery or cozy up on the banquette with a sumptuous latté and one of Lynn’s famous ’Magic Squares’
